WINDOWS CE

Windows CE is a cut-down version of Windows that runs on the little handheld PCs from companies such as HP and Casio. They can be used to connect to Vodafone and the following guide will help you to configure them to make the connection.

Ensure that the Windows CE is displaying the desktop and then go to the START menu and select PROGRAMS.

            Now open the COMMUNICATIONS folder.

Next, open the REMOTE NETWORKING folder.

Double-click on the MAKE NEW CONNECTION icon, call the connection VF Interactive and ensure that DIAL UP CONNECTION is selected.

Click on Next.
Now enter the telephone number and also ensure that the correct modem is selected from the drop down list. Once you have done this, click on CONFIGURE.

You should not have any ticks in any of the boxes displayed. One item to note is the baud rate, if the Windows CE is being used with a mobile phone connection then this would need to be set to 9,600.
Click on CALL OPTIONS and remove the tick from WAIT FOR DIAL TONE BEFORE DIALING.
You also have the option here to insert an init string if required.
When you have finished, click on OK and then select TCP/IP SETTINGS.

The IP address should be server assigned and you need to specify the DNS name servers as 158.43.240.4 and 158.43.240.3 When you have done this, click on OK.

To test the connection, double-click on the VF Interactive  icon in REMOTE NETWORKING. Ensure that the HOSTNAME and PASSWORD are entered correctly and the DOMAIN field is blank. Click on CONNECT and the Windows CE will dial in and connect to Vodafone Interactive
