Step 1. From "My Computer" double click on the "Dial up Networking" icon.
Step 2. Next click on the "New..." button.
Step 3. Now change the text box to read "Your ISP" then click on the "Next" button below.
Step 4. Make sure that only the options below are selected, then click on the "Next" button.
Step 5. Make sure that the details on this page are the same as your ISP
Step 6. Then click on the "More" button and select "Edit entry and modem properties...".
Step 7. If you then select the "Configure..." button near the bottom of the window.
Step 8. The initial speed should be set to as high as it can go and all three of the hardware features should be enabled as shown below.
Step 9. Now select the "Server" tab, only the TCP/IP protocol should be used with PPP and the two tick boxes checked.
Step 10. Next click on the "TCP/IP Settings..." button. Your IP address should be server assigned unless your on a LAN. The DNS numbers should be specified as shown below. The two tick boxes should also be checked.
Step 11. Click "OK" to close this window and return to the edit phonebook window, now select the "script" tab. Make sure that the option here is set to "none".
Step 12. Select the "Security" tab next and make sure that the option "Accept only encrypted authentication" is chosen.
Step 13. In the "X.25" tab the "Network" should be set to none and all other text boxes should be blank.
Step 14. Now click "OK" then the "Dial" button. You will need to enter Your ISP user ID and password in the boxes provided leaving the "Domain" text box blank.
Step 15. Now the dialing box will appear and the modem will start to dial.
