Dos Riched32.dll
NOTE:
If you receive an "Access is denied" error message when you attempt to rename the Riched32.dll file, follow these steps: Click Start, click Shut Down, click Restart in MS-DOS mode, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following commands to rename the file, pressing ENTER after each command:
CD\windows\system ren riched32.dll riched32.xxx
exit Extract the Riched32.dll file from the original Windows 95 or Windows 98 disks or CD-ROM to the Windows\System folder.
To restore the registry in Win98 from DOS
restart in Dos Mode ( press shift + F8 on start up) choose command prompt only (item 6) type in without the quotes "scanreg /restore" this will restore the registry settings to the last time it worked "OK"
NOTE:If you receive an "UNKNOWN COMPRESSION TYPE" error message, extract a new copy of the Extract.exe file from the Setupw95.cab cabinet file (Internet Explorer 4.x) or the Gsetup95.cab file (Internet Explorer 5) into the Windows\Command Folder. This will replace the older version of Extract.exe which will not work with most of the Internet Explorer 4.x and 5 cab files. To check Memory At Dos prompt (windows Dos or normal Dos) type mem/p/c and it will tell you where your conventional and upper memory is.
To rename winsocks in Dos use:
CD\windows\system ren wsock32.dll wsock32.xxx
CD\ to move one step back towards C:\>

To manually Extract winsocks
EXTRACT /A /L C:\WINDOWS D:\WIN95\WIN95_02.CAB WINSOCK.dll
EXTRACT /A /L C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM D:\WIN95\WIN95_02.CAB WSOCK32.dll

Win95 Extract in Dos. extract file to C:\TEMP
If CD Drive is not found in DOS then....
START | RUN | COMMAND.......Then...EXTRACT /A /L C:\TEMP D:\WIN95\WIN95_02.CAB OLEAUT32.DLL

CD\
CD TEMP
COPY OLEAUT32.DLL C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

To make a Windows 98 Startup disk from MS-DOS, use the following steps:
Restart your computer, press and hold down the CTRL key until the Windows 98 Startup menu 
appears, and then choose Command Prompt Only from the Startup menu. 
Insert a blank, formatted floppy disk into drive A. 
Type the following commands, pressing ENTER after each command: 
   cd windows\command
      smartdrv.exe
      bootdisk a:
NOTE: Smartdrv.exe is not required to create a Windows 98 Startup disk. It is used only to speed the creation of the startup disk.
Follow the instructions on the screen to finish making the Startup disk.
